Formally an apple packing shed, Shady Acres has all of the amenities of a modern home, with a rustic feel. Located between the historic towns of Julian and Santa Ysabel, this unique home awaits you and your family for a relaxing Originallfree hit counters y built in the early 1900’s, Shady Acres has been fully remodeled into a 3 bedroom 2 bath home. It sleeps 6 comfortably, with an additional fold out bed and crib. The accommodations include one queen bed, one full bed and two twins. There is a game closet as well as a DVD library to choose from. Each bedroom has a modern TV as well as a flat screen mounted on the wall in the main living space. Shady Acres is situated on 5 acres with many mature oaks. It is conveniently located in the small community of Wynola, which includes 2 great restaurants, an antique mall, an art gallery a winery, and a small candy factory. The front porch is pleasantly furnished for guests to play a game, curl up to a good book, or just relax. In the fall and winter, there is a beautiful gas fireplace, as well as a very rustic but unique, stone bar-b-que outside to enjoy during the warmer months. On any given day, you may see a family of wild turkeys roaming the property, or possibly a deer or two. You will definitely get the feel of being in the country, yet close enough to run into town for a slice of pie or fresh squeezed cider! There is ample parking on the property and several fruit trees loaded with fresh apples, pears and plums for you to enjoy. There is a washer and dryer available if needed. We warmly welcome you and your family to our mountain guest house and know you will enjoy your stay. Things to see and do in the Julian area: There are many places to hike in the mountains, including Inaja State Park, Volcan Mountain preserve trail, and Cuyamaca Peak. Julian has many great shops, restaurants, and a tour through an authentic gold mine. You can ride horses or take a carriage ride through town and of course, stop and have some warm from the oven apple pie and fresh squeezed cider. (The Julian Pie Company is a great place to start!) Just 7 miles out of town is Lake Cuyamaca. There is a small restaurant, a place to rent boats, and plenty of fishing. In the fall, when the local apples are harvested, the town is bustling with tourists and special attractions that should not be missed. This year at our local winery, the town will host its second annual “Apple Days” which includes local artisans, antique vendors, yummy treats, and activities for the kids. There will be a few places to pick your own apples if you come early enough in the season. Winter is a magical time in Julian with the crisp mountain air, the smell of warm pie and the chance of a snowfall. The July fourth parade has been named “One of the Best Small Town Parades in America” and has grown over the years in popularity.
